Learners who have completed an MHFA course with a valid, in-date certificate should attend the MHFA Refresher course to maintain and renew their knowledge and skills.
Learners have up to six months after their certificate has expired to complete an MHFA Refresher course. If their certificate is more than six months out of date, they will need to recomplete the full MHFA course.
Individuals interested in joining the Association of Mental Health First AidersĀ® can also attend the redeveloped MHFA Refresher course to become a member. These individuals must have completed an equivalent, eligible Level 3 mental health first aid qualification or higher, gained in the last three years.
The following qualifications have been assessed and approved to give you an example of the eligibility criteria:
- FutureQuals Level 3 Award in Mental Health: Workplace First Aider Qualification (RQF): FutureQual Qualification Number: 610/1484/9 (Previous version number: 603/7368/4)
- FAA Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF): Qualification Number 603/3770/9 (Also alternative title FAA Award in Leading First Aid for Mental Health at SCQF Level 6: Qualification Number: SCQF R601 04)
- QualSafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace: Qualification Number 603/5026/X
The certificate in relation to these qualifications must be dated as issued within the last three years to be considered valid.
If you are confident that an individual meets these criteria, you should contact us with a copy of their certificate.
Learners who have attended a Mental Health Champion or Aware course are not able to attend the MHFA Refresher course to update their skills. We recommend they instead attend the MHFA course to gain access to become a member of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders.
