There are three components to this online training. Part one and two are self-directed study, and part three is about self and peer reflection. Part one focuses on the systemic nature of racism and how it manifests, and the impact of racism on the mental health of Black People and People of Colour. Part two focuses on how to apply an anti-racist lens to MHFA tools and skills. Part three is about self and peer reflection, which can be done in a number of different ways, including:
- Building reflection and discussion time into our existing networking and development events between March - June 2021.
- Using existing groups and networks to reflect on the learning. Many Instructor Members are already in practice groups as part of the Online MHFA and Online Youth MHFA upskill process, and we encourage you to continue to utilise these groups for reflection.
- Using the Race and Mental Health group on Workplace from Meta to connect with others who are interested in setting up practice groups. Workplace is our professional online peer-to-peer platform, exclusively for MHFA England Instructor Members; if you haven’t joined Workplace yet, please register here.
As part of our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation, the MHFA England product team has created an Inclusive Language Guide. This is a digital document that will provide people with the understanding and confidence to have conversations about anti-racism and race within the workplace and in the context of the work we do together. This is also available on the Online Learning hub.
